- Acne vulgaris:
- Apply OD nocte
- Apply sparingly to affected area after thoroughly washing the face
Cream: 5% w/w
- Best used at night
- Avoid contact with the eyes, lips, mucous membranes and mouth
- Avoid excessive sun exposure and use sunscreen
- Stop use if irritation becomes severe
- Concomitant administration with sulfone products (sulfacetamide or dapsone) may result in temporary discoloration (orange/yellow) of facial hair and skin
Exact mechanism is unknown but it is thought to elicit a keratolytic and desquamative effect which may contribute to its efficacy
It is effective in vitro against Propionibacterium acnes found in sebaceous follicles and comedones
