- Eye redness:
- 1-2 gtt 0.12% solution in affected eye(s) BD/TDS
- Mydriasis induction:
- 1 gtt 2.5% solution in eye(s) every 3-5min PRN OR 1 gtt 10% solution in eye(s)every 3-5min PRN
- Patients with heavily pigmented eyes may require higher doses
- Posterior synechiae prevention:
- Anterior Uveitis: 1 gtt of 10% solution TDS or more (with atropine)
- Post-iridectomy: 1 gtt of 10% solution OD/BD
- Eye drops:
- 0.12% w/w
- 2.5% w/w
- 10% w/w
- Remove contact lenses before applying the eye drops/ointments and wait until 10 min before inserting contact lenses.
- Discard 4 weeks after opening bottle
- Eye drops should be used before eye ointments
- Shake well before use
Alpha agonist
It acts directly on alpha-adrenergic receptors in eye producing contraction of dilator muscle of pupil & constriction of arterioles in conjunctiva
