• Pain and inflammation associated with cataract surgery:
    • 1%: 1 gtt TDS to affected eye(s) beginning 1 day before cataract surgery, on the day of surgery and *2/52 postoperatively
    • 3%: 1 gtt OD beginning 1 day before cataract surgery, on day of surgery, and continue through the first 2 weeks postoperatively
      • An additional drop should be administered 30-120 minutes before surgery
  • Eye drops:
    • 0.1% w/v
    • 0.3% w/v
  • Remove contact lenses before applying the eye drops/ointments and wait until 10 min before inserting contact lenses.
  • Discard 4 weeks after opening bottle
  • Eye drops should be used before eye ointments
  • Shake well before use

NSAID

It is a prodrug converted to amfenac which inhibits cyclooxygenase, reducing prostaglandin and thromboxane synthesis
