- Induction of mydriasis
- Cycloplegic refraction:
- Dose: 1-2 gtt *1 40-50 min before procedure
- May repeat in 5 min PRN
- DOA: 24 hours
Eye drops: 10mg/mL
- Remove contact lenses before applying the eye drops and wait until 10 min before inserting contact lenses.
- Discard 4 weeks after opening bottle
- Eye drops should be used before eye ointments
- If using more than 1 eye drop, they should be administered at least 5 minutes apart
Anticholinergic mydriatic
It antagonizes acetylcholine receptors, inhibiting response of iris sphincter and ciliary body muscles producing dilation of the pupil and paralysis of accommodation
- Ocular burning
- Photophobia
- Blurred vision
- Ocular irritation
- Eyelid edema
- Increase IOP
- Hyperemia
- Conjunctivitis
- Behavioral disturbance
- Confusion
- Hypersensitivity to class/components
- Closed-angle glaucoma
