- Short-term treatment of insomnia:
- PO 5-10mg nocte
Tablet: 10mg
- Given immediately before bedtime and >7 hours before planned awakening
- Taken on an empty stomach
- Reevaluate if insomnia persists after 7-10 days of treatment
Imidazopyridine sedative/hypnotic
It modulates omega-1 type GABA receptor via selective antagonism, resulting in increased chloride conductance, neuronal hyperpolarization, inhibition of action potential and a decrease in neuronal excitability that in turn produce sedative and hypnotic effects

- Complex sleep behavior history
- Alcohol use
- Severe hepatic impairment
WARNING:
- Complex sleep behaviors may occur including sleep-walking, sleep-driving and engaging in other activities while not fully awake
- May result in serious injuries, including death
- Discontinue immediately if patient experiences a complex sleep behavior
- Calcium/magnesium/potassium/sodium oxybate
- Sodium oxybate
