• Elevated intracranial pressure associated with cerebral edema:
    • IV 0.25-2g/kg/dose *1
    • May be repeated every 6-8 hours as needed
  • Elevated intraocular pressure:
    • IV 1.5-2g/kg/dose *1, 30-60 min before surgery

Infusion: 20%

  • To be administered over 30-60 minutes
  • NOT to be admixed with other drugs.

Osmotic diuretic

It elevates the glomerular filtrate osmolarity, by hindering the tubular reabsorption of water and enhancing excretion of sodium and chloride reducing pressure
