- Dementia in Alzheimer’s disease:
- Mild to moderate:
- PO 5mg every night at bedtime initially
- May increase to 10mg/day after 4-6 weeks if warranted
- Max 10mg/day
- Mild to moderate:

- 5mg every night at bedtime *4-6 weeks
- May increase to 10mg every night at bedtime *3 months, then may increase to 23mg every night at bedtime

Taken without regards to meals
It reversibly binds to and inactivates acetylcholinesterase (cholinesterase inhibitor) which increases acetylcholine concentrations, thereby enhancing cholinergic neurotransmission
