- Mild to moderate hypertension:
- PO 1 tab OD
- Max: 10mg ramipril/ 50mg hydrochlorothiazide
Tablet:
- 5mg/12.5mg
- 5mg/25mg
- Can be taken with or without food
Ramipril: ACE Inhibitor. It acts primarily on the suppression of the plasma renin-angiotensin aldosterone system thus decreasing plasma angiotensin II concentration, leading to decreased vasopressor activity and reduced aldosterone secretion.
Hydrochlorothiazide: Thiazide diuretic. It inhibits sodium reabsorption in distal renal tubules, resulting in increased excretion of water and of sodium, potassium and hydrogen ions.
