• Essential hypertension
    • 25-50mg daily in divided doses
  • Heart failure:
    • 25mg 2-4 times daily. Can be increased every 2 days if necessary. Maintenance: 50-75mg QID

Slow IV: 5-10mg over 10 minutes. Repeat after 20 minutes if necessary.

Tablet: 25mg

Injection: 20mg/ml

IV Preparation:

  • Prepare immediately just before use.
  • Try to reduce contact with metal parts during preparation and administration of the drug.

Phthalazine-derivative antihypertensive agent. Vasodilator.

It reduces peripheral resistance and blood pressure due to direct vasodilation of the smooth muscle. Diastolic pressure may be decreased more than the systolic pressure.
