- Edema:
- Initially PO 5-10mg OD or on alternate days.
- Maintenance dose: PO 2.5-10mg 1-3 times weekly
- Max: 20 mg daily
- Hypertension:
- PO 2.5mg OD
- PO 2.5mg OD
- Suppression of lactation:
- PO 5mg AM then 5mg at midday *5/7
- PO 5mg AM then 5mg at midday *5/7
- Premenstrual edema:
- PO 2.5mg OD *1/52
- Taken before period is due
- Idiopathic hypercalciuria:
- PO 2.5mg daily with increased fluid intake.
Tablet:

Thiazide diuretic
It inhibits sodium reabsorption in distal renal tubules, resulting in increased excretion of water and of sodium, potassium and hydrogen ions.
