• Treatment and prevention of postmenopausal osteoporosis:
    • PO 5mg OD OR 35mg once weekly OR 150mg once monthly
  • Glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis:
    • PO 5mg OD
    • For treatment and prevention in patients on >7.5mg/day prednisone or equivalent               
  • Male osteoporosis:
    • PO 35mg once weekly
  • Paget disease:
    • PO 30mg OD *2/12
    • May repeat course *1 after 2 months post-treatment observation period

Tablet: 35mg

  • Given with water after breakfast and remain upright for 30min after administration
  • Calcium and vitamin D supplementation recommended if inadequate dietary intake

It inhibits osteoclast activity, reducing bone resorption and turnover
