- HIV infection in combination with other anti-retroviral drugs:
- Adults and children >25kg: 1 tab OD
Tablet: 600mg/300mg
- Taken without regards to meals
Abacavir: NRTI (guanosine analog). It inhibits HIV reverse transcriptase by inhibiting viral replication
Lamivudine: NRTI (cytosine analog). It inhibits HIV reverse transcriptase by viral DNA chain termination.

- Patients who have the HLA-B*5701 allele
- Prior hypersensitivity to abacavir or lamivudine
- Moderate or severe hepatic impairment
WARNING
- Severe and sometimes fatal hypersensitivity reaction, with multiple organ involvement, has been observed
- Severe acute HBV exacerbations in HBV/HIV co-infected patients upon lamivudine discontinuation
- Elvitegravir/cobicistat/emtricitabine/tenofovir DF
