- Monotherapy or combination therapy with metformin, a thiazolidinedione or insulin:

- Combination therapy with a sulfonylurea:

- Maximum dose: 100mg/day.
Tablet:
- 50mg
- Taken without regard to food
- Best taken in the morning
Dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor
It inhibits the DPP-4 enzyme, which degrades incretin hormones (GLP-1 and GIP). By increasing incretin levels, vildagliptin enhances glucose-dependent insulin secretion and reduces glucagon secretion, leading to better control of blood glucose levels.
