• Traveler’s diarrhoea:
    • Adult and children 12 years and over: 200mg TDS *3/7
  • Hepatic encephalopathy (remission maintenance):
    • 550mg BD 
  • Irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhoea:
    • 550 mg TDS * 14/7
    • Recurrence of symptoms can be retreated with a 14 day treatment course, up to 2 times

Tablet: 200mg, 550mg

To be taken without regard to food

Antibiotic, antidiarrheal

It inhibits DNA-dependent RNA polymerase resulting in inhibition of transcription hence bacteriostatic. In hepatic encephalopathy, it inhibits growth of enteric ammonia-producing bacteria to indirectly reduce serum ammonia level.
