• Gonococcal urethritis/cervicitis:
    • IM 0.5g *1
  • Rectal gonorrhea:
    • Men: IM 1g *1
    • Women: IM 0.5g *1
  • Infections of susceptible organisms:
    • Uncomplicated: IV/IM 1g BD
    • Moderate to severe: IV/IM 1-2 g TDS
    • Septicemia: IV 2g TDS/QID
    • Life-threatening: IV 2g every 4 hours; Max 12 g/day
    • <12 years (<50kg): IV/IM 50-200mg/kg/day divided every 6-8hours
    • 0-7 days old neonates: IM/IV 100-150mg/kg/day divided BD
  • Prophylaxis of surgical infection:
    • IM/IV 1g *1 30-90 minutes before start of procedure
  • Community-acquired pneumonia:
    • >3 months: IV 150mg/kg/day divided TDS *10/7
