Cefixime: 3rd generation cephalosporin with broad-spectrum gram-negative activity. Inhibits cell-wall synthesis by binding to 1 or more penicillin-binding proteins thus bactericidal.
Clavulanic acid: Contains a beta-lactam ring that binds to the beta-lactamase active site and inactivates the enzyme, thereby enhancing the antibacterial effect of beta-lactam antibiotics
