- Moderate to severe infections:
- IM/IV 2g TDS. Max 12g/day
- Surgical infection prophylaxis:
- Pre-operatively: IV/IM 1-2 g ≤1 hour before procedure (may be repeated in 2-5 hours intraoperatively)
- Post-operatively: IV 0.5-1g every 6-8hr for 24 hours
- Prophylaxis in endocarditis surgery only in high-risk patients:
- IV/IM 1g 30-60 minutes before procedure
- Uncomplicated UTI:
- IV 1g BD
- Mild to moderate cholecystitis:
- IV 1-2g TDS *4-7 days
Injection: 1g
For IV, infuse over 3-5 minutes
