- Adjunct treatment in hepatic encephalopathy:
- PO 1g QID*5-6 days

Aminoglycoside.
It binds to bacterial 30S ribosomal subunit thereby inhibiting protein synthesis. It also suppresses urease producing bacteria consequently reducing ammonia absorption from gut
Minimal since it is not absorbed from the gut.
