- Treatment of symptoms associated with hemorrhoids, such as pain, itching, and swelling.
- Relief of discomfort in anorectal conditions like anal fissures and post-operative anorectal pain.
Dose:
- Cream or ointment:
- Apply a small amount to the affected area BD/TDS preferably in the morning, at bedtime and after each bowel movement.
- Suppository:
- Insert 1 suppository into the rectum up to TDS as needed.
Cream/Ointment:
- Lidocaine 2% w/w
- Tribenoside 5% w/w.
Each suppository:
- Lidocaine 40mg
- Tribenoside 400mg
- Clean the affected area with mild soap and warm water and pat dry.
- Apply a thin layer of the cream or ointment to the affected area and gently massage.
Lidocaine (Local Anesthetic): Blocks sodium channels, reducing nerve impulse transmission, and providing numbing relief from pain and itching.
Tribenoside (Vasoactive Agent): Reduces inflammation and improves vascular tone, promoting healing of inflamed tissues and reducing pain and swelling.
- Mild local irritation or redness at the site of application.
- Temporary numbness or tingling in the treated area
- Hypersensitivity to ingredients
- Severe rectal bleeding
- Severe liver or kidney impairment
- Class I antiarrhythmic drugs (e.g., mexiletine)
- Beta-blockers or cimetidine
- Concomitant use with other local anaesthetics
