• Chronic GERD symptoms:
    • Adults: PO/IM/IV 10-15mg QID
      • Max: 60mg/day
    • Neonate (Off-label): IV 0.15mg/kg QID
    • Infant(Off-label): IV/IM/PO 0.1mg/kg TDS/QID
      • Max: 0.3-0.75mg/kg/day
  • Diabetic gastroparesis:
    • Adult: PO/IM/IV 10mg QID
      • Max: 40mg/day
    • <6 years old (Off-label): PO 0.1mg/kg TDS. Max 0.1 mg/kg
    • ≥6 years old (Off-label): PO 0.5mg/kg/day divided TDS
  • Chemotherapy-induced nausea & vomiting:
    • Adults: IV 2mg/kg (infused over at least 15 minutes) 30minutes before chemotherapy, then repeated 2 more times every 2 hours (after initial dose)  
    • Vomiting suppressed: Decrease to IV 1mg/kg every 3 hours for 3 doses
    • Vomiting not suppressed: Continue same dose every 3 hours for 3 doses
  • Postoperative nausea & vomiting:
    • Adults: IM/IV 10-20mg *1
    • Children(Off-label): IV 0.1-2mg/kg TDS/QID PRN
  • Small bowel intubation:
    • Adults: IV 10mg over 1-2 minutes
    • <6 years old (Off-label): IV 0.1mg/kg over 1-2 minutes
    • 6-14 years old (Off-label): IV 2.5-5mg over 1-2 minutes
    • ≥14 years old (Off-label): IV 10mg over 1-2 minutes
  • Radiologic examination of upper GI tract:
    • Adults: IV 10mg over 1-2 minutes
    • <6 years old (Off-label): IV 0.1mg/kg over 1-2 minutes
    • 6-14 years old (Off-label): IV 2.5-5mg over 1-2 minutes
    • ≥14 years old (Off-label): IV 10mg over 1-2 minutes
  • Migraine-associated nausea & vomiting (Off-label):
    • IV 10-20mg *1 OR PO/IM/IV 5-10mg every 6-8 hours PRN
    • Max: 45mg/day
  • Hiccups (Off-label)
    • PO 10mg TDS/QID
  • Tablet:
    • 10mg
  • Suspension:
    • 5mg/5mL
  • Injection:

  • Taken 30 minutes before meals and at bedtime

Dopamine antagonist; Antiemetic

It blocks dopamine receptors (at high dose) and serotonin receptors in chemoreceptor trigger zone of CNS. It also sensitizes tissues to acetylcholine thereby stimulating upper GI tract motility.
