- Management of nausea and vomiting of pregnancy
- Supplementation of folic acid to prevent neural tube defects in pregnancy.
Dose:
- PO 2 tabs at bedtime on day 1.
- If symptoms persist, the dosage can be increased as follows:
- PO 2 tabs at bedtime on day 1.
- PO 1 tab in the morning and 2 tabs at bedtime on day 2.
- If needed, add an additional tablet mid-afternoon (total of 4 tablets daily).
- If symptoms persist, the dosage can be increased as follows:
Tablet:
- Doxylamine: 10mg
- Pyridoxine: 10mg
- Folic acid: 1mg
- Take on an empty stomach with a full glass of water.
Doxylamine (Antihistamine): Works by blocking H1 receptors in the brain, which helps alleviate nausea and vomiting.
Pyridoxine (Vitamin B6): Plays a crucial role in neurotransmitter function and reduces symptoms of nausea, especially during pregnancy.
Folic Acid: Aids in the synthesis of nucleic acids and the maturation of red blood cells, crucial for foetal development.
