- Gastrointestinal spasms

Typical dosage:
- OP: 80 mg 2–3 times/day
- IV/IM: 40–80 mg, up to 3 times/day, for acute pain
- PO: 80 mg
- Ampoules:IV/IM 40 mg/2 mL or 80 mg/4 mL
- Take before meals for prevention of cramping
- For acute spasms, injectable form is used in clinical settings
- Swallow tablets whole with water
- Class: Non-atropinic antispasmodic
- Mechanism: Direct smooth muscle relaxant, particularly in the GI tract, biliary, and urinary tracts
- Does not affect cholinergic receptors, hence fewer anticholinergic side effects
- Usually well tolerated
- Rare:
- Nausea
- Allergic reactions (rash, itching)
- Dizziness
- Known hypersensitivity to phloroglucinol
- Severe hypotension (for injection)
- No major interactions reported
- Can be safely combined with paracetamol, NSAIDs, or antibiotics in pain management
