- Abdominal cramps
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
- Menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea)
- Colicky pain (renal, biliary, intestinal)
Typical Adult Dosage:
- 1 tablet 2–3 times daily
- Do not exceed 4 g of paracetamol/day
- Dicyclomine hydrochloride: 10–20 mg
- Paracetamol (acetaminophen): 325–500 mg
- Take after meals
- Swallow whole, do not crush
- Stay hydrated; avoid alcohol (due to paracetamol)
- Dicyclomine: Antispasmodic, anticholinergic
- Blocks muscarinic receptors → relaxes smooth muscle of GI tract
- Paracetamol: Analgesic and antipyretic
- Inhibits prostaglandin synthesis in the CNS
- Dry mouth, drowsiness, dizziness
- Constipation, blurred vision, nausea
- Rare: Liver toxicity (with high paracetamol doses)
- Glaucoma, urinary retention, GI obstruction
- Severe liver disease
- Allergy to either component
- Other CNS depressants: may enhance sedation
- Enzyme inducers (e.g., rifampin): reduce paracetamol efficacy
- Other anticholinergics: additive side effects
