- Uncomplicated lower urinary tract infections:
- Adults: PO 1g QID *1-2 weeks
- Children ≥3 months: PO 50mg/kg daily divided QID
- Shigellosis:
- Adult: PO 1g QID *5/7
- Child ≥3 months: PO 15mg/kg QID *5/7
- Tablet:
- 500mg
- To be taken with food or immediately after food
Quinolone antibiotic
It inhibits DNA gyrase activity and induce formation of a relaxation complex analogue thereby inhibiting DNA replication.
