• Common cold
  • Allergic rhinitis with fever or headache
  • Sinus congestion with runny nose and sneezing
  • Flu-like symptoms (nasal congestion, body aches, headache, fever)

Typical Adult Dosage:

  • Cetirizine 5–10 mg
  • Paracetamol (Acetaminophen) 500 mg
  • Phenylephrine 10 mg

Frequency:

  • Usually taken every 8 hours as needed, not exceeding 3 doses per day.

Pediatric Use:

  • Formulations and dosages vary—must be age and weight-adjusted and prescribed by a physician.
  • Cetirizine 5 mg + Paracetamol 500 mg + Phenylephrine 10 mg per tablet
  • Also available in syrup and dispersible tablet form for pediatric use
  • Take with or without food
  • Do not exceed the recommended dose to avoid hepatotoxicity (from paracetamol) or increased BP (from phenylephrine)
  • Avoid other paracetamol-containing products to prevent overdose

Cetirizine:

  • Second-generation antihistamine (H1 blocker)
  • Reduces allergy symptoms like sneezing, runny nose, and itching

Paracetamol:

  • Analgesic and antipyretic
  • Works by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in the CNS

              Phenylephrine:

  • Alpha-1 adrenergic receptor agonist (decongestant)
  • Causes vasoconstriction in nasal mucosa, reducing congestion

Cetirizine:

  • Drowsiness
  • Dry mouth
  • Dizziness

Paracetamol:

  • Generally well tolerated
  • High doses: liver toxicity

Phenylephrine:

  • Increased blood pressure
  • Palpitations
  • Nervousness
  • Insomnia
  • Hypersensitivity to any component
  • Severe hypertension or coronary artery disease (due to phenylephrine)
  • Severe hepatic impairment (due to paracetamol)
  • Narrow-angle glaucoma
  • Concurrent use of MAO inhibitors (within 14 days)
  • MAO inhibitors: May cause hypertensive crisis with phenylephrine
  • Alcohol: Increases risk of liver damage with paracetamol and enhances drowsiness from cetirizine
  • Beta-blockers: May interfere with phenylephrine’s effect
  • Other sedatives or antihistamines: Additive CNS depression
