- Common cold
- Allergic rhinitis with fever or headache
- Sinus congestion with runny nose and sneezing
- Flu-like symptoms (nasal congestion, body aches, headache, fever)
Typical Adult Dosage:
- Cetirizine 5–10 mg
- Paracetamol (Acetaminophen) 500 mg
- Phenylephrine 10 mg
Frequency:
- Usually taken every 8 hours as needed, not exceeding 3 doses per day.
Pediatric Use:
- Formulations and dosages vary—must be age and weight-adjusted and prescribed by a physician.
- Cetirizine 5 mg + Paracetamol 500 mg + Phenylephrine 10 mg per tablet
- Also available in syrup and dispersible tablet form for pediatric use
- Take with or without food
- Do not exceed the recommended dose to avoid hepatotoxicity (from paracetamol) or increased BP (from phenylephrine)
- Avoid other paracetamol-containing products to prevent overdose
Cetirizine:
- Second-generation antihistamine (H1 blocker)
- Reduces allergy symptoms like sneezing, runny nose, and itching
Paracetamol:
- Analgesic and antipyretic
- Works by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in the CNS
Phenylephrine:
- Alpha-1 adrenergic receptor agonist (decongestant)
- Causes vasoconstriction in nasal mucosa, reducing congestion
Cetirizine:
- Drowsiness
- Dry mouth
- Dizziness
Paracetamol:
- Generally well tolerated
- High doses: liver toxicity
Phenylephrine:
- Increased blood pressure
- Palpitations
- Nervousness
- Insomnia
- Hypersensitivity to any component
- Severe hypertension or coronary artery disease (due to phenylephrine)
- Severe hepatic impairment (due to paracetamol)
- Narrow-angle glaucoma
- Concurrent use of MAO inhibitors (within 14 days)
- MAO inhibitors: May cause hypertensive crisis with phenylephrine
- Alcohol: Increases risk of liver damage with paracetamol and enhances drowsiness from cetirizine
- Beta-blockers: May interfere with phenylephrine’s effect
- Other sedatives or antihistamines: Additive CNS depression
