• Pharyngitis & tonsillitis:
    • Adults: PO 500mg OD *10/7
    • Child 2-12 years: PO 5 mg/kg BD *10/7
      • Max: 500 mg/dose
  • Acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis
    • Adult: PO 500mg BD *10/7
  • Uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections:
    • Adult: PO 250-500mg BD OR 500mg OD *10/7
    • Child 2-12 years: PO 20mg/kg OD
      • Max: 500 mg/dose
  • Tablet:
    • 500mg
  • Suspension:
    • 125mg/5mL
    • 250mg/5mL
  • May be taken with or without food.
  • May be taken with meals to reduce GI discomfort.

Second-generation cephalosporin

It binds to one or more of the penicillin-binding proteins, which in turn inhibits cell wall synthesis and results in bactericidal activity.
