• Hypertension:

  • Benign prostrate hyperplasia:
    • Initially PO 1mg OD then may double dose every 1-2 weeks
    • Max: 8mg/day
  • Tablet:
    • 2mg
    • 4mg

First dose taken at bedtime due to dizziness

Alpha blockers

It antagonizes peripheral alpha-1 adrenergic receptors causing arterial, arteriolar and venous dilation. It causes a decrease in total peripheral resistance and blood pressure. It also reduces sympathetic tone-induced urethral stricture responsible for BPH symptoms
