- Nebulized solution:
- Adults: 1-2mg BD
- 1-8 years (prior therapy with bronchodilators alone): 0.5mg OD/ divided BD (Max: 0.5mg/day)
- 1-8 years (prior therapy with inhaled corticosteroids):5mg OD/ divided BD (Max: 1 mg/day)
- 1-8 years (prior therapy with oral corticosteroids): 1mg OD/ divided BD (Max: 1mg/day)
- Symptomatic children not responding to NSAIDs: May be initiated at 0.25mg BD
- Nebulized solution:
- Exacerbation of COPD:
- 1.5-2mg nebulized every 6 hours
Inhaler:
- 200mcg/dose
- 100mcg/dose
Nebulizer suspension:
- 0.5mg/2ml
- 1mg/2ml
- Best used just before bedtime in the evening
- Rinse your mouth and hands after use
- For nebulized solution, the lowest effective dose is used. It should not be mixed with other nebulized solutions
Corticosteroid
Its exact mechanism is unknown but it is thought to inhibit multiple inflammatory cytokines. It produces multiple glucocorticoid and mineralocorticoid effects
