- UTI:
- 500mg TDS
- Bronchitis:
- Uncomplicated: 250mg QID
- Severe: 1g QID
- Gonorrhea:
- 2 g PO with 1 g probenecid as a single dose.
- Repeated doses are recommended for the treatment of females.
- Community-acquired pneumonia:
- 500mg QID
- ENT infections:
- 250mg QID
- Septicaemia:
- Adult: 250mg-1g every 6 hours
- Children <10years: half adult dose
- Endocarditis (in combination with an aminoglycoside/other antibiotic):
- IV 2g every 4-6 hours
- Listeria meningitis (in combination with an aminoglycoside/other antibiotic):
- Adult: 2g every 4 hours *10-14 days
- Neonate: 50mg/kg every 6 hours
- 1-3 months: 50-100mg/kg every 6 hours
- 3 months-12 years: 100mg/kg every 6 hours
- GIT infections:
- 500-750 mg TDS/QID
- Enteric fever:
- Acute: 1-2 g QID *2/52
- Carriers: 1-2 g QID * 4-12 weeks
Capsule: 250mg, 500mg
Suspension: 125mg/5ml
Injection: 250mg
For oral route, best taken 30 min before meals.
