    • 2g daily *3/7
  • Amoebic liver abscess:
    • 2g daily *3-5 days
  • Giardiasis:
    • 2g STAT
  • Trichomoniasis:
    • 2g STAT (not 1st line treatment)
  • Bacterial vaginosis in non-pregnant women:
    • 2g daily *2/7 OR 1g daily *5/7

 

Child: 50-75mg/kg STAT

Tablet: 500mg

  • To be taken with food.
  • Avoid in breastfeeding up to 3 days after completion of meds.

Antiprotozoal.

It inhibits protozoal DNA synthesis by damage of the DNA strands inhibiting their nucleic acid synthesis.
