• Uncomplicated UTI:
    • Adult: 100mg BD *1/52
    • Children >3 months: 3mg/kg in 4 divided doses*3-7 days

Tablets: 100mg

  • Take with food or milk.
  • Monitor closely for pulmonary function and withdrawn at first sign of pulmonary damage.

Nitrofuran antibiotic. It acts by altering bacterial ribosomal proteins and other macromolecules that interfere with metabolism and cell-wall synthesis.

  • Drugs that alkalinize urine
  • Probenecid
  • Sulfinpyrazone
  • Antacids
